Perrima..12 June...

12 June
Big sleep in!!!

Grace is preparing big lunch with Angelo's help. So sweet Angelo peeling potatoes and Grace slicing them for chips. Food beautiful food. She is so lovely. The stove is a great thing for Grace.

It was very funny. After all the painting happening here, the whole outside of the house bei g do evplus around the windows, Eva across the road started painting the fence and entrance step. Very random!!! We laughed!

You have to be here to see all the funny things that happen, it is hard to put it into words!! Grace speaking English to Florin this morning (he is Spanish and speaks Greek), we only understand a couple of Greek words, Grace and Angelo speak English and Greek. So you can imagine the morning conversations over coffee with us all!! Grace was speaking to Florin in English and he looked confused. We laughed, as I said to Grace you are speaking to Florin in English. He and Maria are lovely. I am not sure what language she speaks....some Greek but she could be Romanian, not sure!!! Grace is so lucky to have them so all the work for her. She pays them of course, but they do such a good job and are so reliable and trustworthy.

Off to the village Agiasos where grace was born.

As we were driving, grace was telling us some bits and pieces. The water is so beautiful a d Dougie mentioned about water skiing, butGrace said there was No water skiing as they are very poor people around here.

Directions when driving.....oh my goodness.....I don't know how Dougie does it! Grace sits in the front as she has more room for her leg. She is still not fully recovered from her operation. Angelo sits in the next row with me and Dan and Nick in the very back. I cannot describe how funny it is. The last minute turns, the speaking in Greek between Grace and Angelo.....All so funny

Grace's father had first car to take olives away, her Mother owned land.

There is a running spring where people collect water on the way to Agiosis. People take bottles and fill them. We collected bottles for days. So lovely, we waited our turn to fill!!

We went to the church where Grace was christened. So old and beautiful. We went inside and lit candles, gave money for this. We took photos and the man there was a relative.

One of the things on my shopping list was an icon. Grace bought me two I liked. She wouldn't take no for an answer!! They are small but lovely. Will go with the incense burner I bought in Athens. Very special mementos from my Greece holiday.

Next we went to a little cafe and had water and sweet stewed pistachios. They are so nice. Hope I can get them at home, otherwise I will stock up in Sydney.

Off into another shop where we bought biscuits, baclava and fresh cherries. YUM....food more food!!!!

We saw the house Where grace was born. All the neighbours came out, people remembered Grace, lots of photos, greeting and laughter. Dougie got a hug from a lady!!

It is hard to imagine how narrow the streets are. Dougie did so well driving down the narrow streets. He scraped bumper, knocked mirrors in twice. Grace's comments "Left, maybe right, what you think?" It was so funny. Talking a mixture of English and Greek!!
Doug's comment was that he thinks the secondary roads he thought were narrow are wide after driving through the village of Agiasos!! He is so patient....wouldn't be so if it was me!!

We arrived back safely, played cards and snacked and then learned a new card game from Angelo and Grace. Laughed and had fun.

Doug admitted he would have thrown me out of the car if my directions has been like Grace and Angelo's.

I don't do directions at all now!!!
